The best you can do is find pockets of joy and revel in them. Because no matter what people say, hope does not spring eternal. You’ve got to refill that well with something.
This is the genre I go to when I need my hope refilled.

And for a smile... because "springing well" has a definite ring (as "the salt of the earth", often used in romances), recalling the Gospel of John. The scene is beautiful (Jesus and the samaritan woman), but this image is too funny to miss it!
