Private Practice, by Samanthe Beck

Private PracticePrivate Practice by Samanthe Beck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Really funny and enriched with a lot of humor!
An enthralling and amusing read. The plot is not so new or innovative, but the writing is so fresh, the characters (Logan and Ellie) so clearly and vividly painted, the scenes and the plot so naturally definied that is a must-read for all romance lovers.
It is listed also as an erotic romance, but the sexy scenes are not at all invading, gross or too explicit. For me it's one of the more appreciated merits of this romance: the male character is refusing to do "something" to her (how refreshing!); the interaction between the sheets is done with more humor and funny remarks than detailed specifications; a lot of elements are referred as, for example, "chapter four-ing her", according to the book's chapters that Ellie wants to test.
The object of Ellie's desire is unobtainable, but she is the last character to discover that, in face of all the evidences; she is pursuing a project based only in a chatting overheard in a public place...but all these things make her not silly, but more loveable and sweet, thanks to the ability of Samanthe Beck. Brava!

Kinked, di Thea Harrison

Kinked (Elder Races, #6)Kinked by Thea Harrison
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

- Prima metà del libro: ok. Qualche scena divertente, qualche scena kinky, buon ritmo.
Sigh!

Shield of winter, di Nalini Singh

Shield of Winter (Psy-Changeling, #13)Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Proprio bello.

Sun, Sand, Sex (The Long Island Coven, #1)Sun, Sand, Sex by Linda Lael Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forget (and forgive) the cover and the title, this is an interesting and smart, not a silly and easy book.
The first short story, "One last weekend", is about a couple in their early forties that is separating, and discover a new affinity and bond in the summer holiday home (and thanks to the dog). Really interesting in the romance panorama, with unusual plot and characters.
The novella by Shelly Laurenston, "My kind of town", is funny and witty and features characters well loved by her fans. Yes, it's summer in this novella too, but really it's not so important for the plot, that has a dark side.
The third novella, by Jennifer Apodaca, I haven't read (sorry).
So, the question remains: why this stupid title? Why so banal cover image? Sigh...

Suburban renewal, di Pamela Morsi

Suburban Renewal Suburban Renewal by Pamela Morsi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a story about a family, but also about all the ties, lies, mediocrity, regrets, fears and gifts, self-giving times, hopes, reassurance and strength that every family is. The book is also interesting for the long time period in which the characters are followed, so it's like reading a summary of american history from the '70 to the '90, and it's a bonus for me.
Beautiful ending, with the revelation of a mistery, that brings the most tortured character to accept a glimpse of hope and develope a new understanding of himself.
And as in all the books of Pamela Morsi, deep insights and significant revelations appear in day-by-day life, from the mouths of people that are like us, for better or for worst.

Burn for me, di Cynthia Eden

Burn For Me (Phoenix Fire, #1)Burn For Me by Cynthia Eden
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not bad, interesting characters (Eve and Cain most of all), but too fast-paced (here-there-escape-safe home-escape-on the run-new safe home-kiss-love-escape-on the run...) and not very involving, because I have to say that the first two or three times that this man is dying are touching, the other times really seem ripetitive and boring. Like you are thinking: oh, he is dying...AGAIN?! Defend yourself better, boy!
The interaction and loving between the two are also too fast and not rising from deep feelings or insightful understanding. The female character, Eve, is interesting but her past and her nature are not completely developed. Good for the renewal of mythological characters in paranormal romance: phoenix and dragoness, not less. But I prefer Phoenix from Saint Seya and Fawkes. And for the dragon-lady part...see G.A. Aiken for an amusing read!

Abisso di tenebra, di Gena Showalter

Abisso di tenebra (Otherworld Assassin, #1)Abisso di tenebra by Gena Showalter
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
