His conscious tenderness made things deep inside her tug, melt. As if he were caressing her heart. Silver Silence 241.

Silver Mercant, he knew, would fight to the death, break all the rules, ignore every boundary, for those who were her own. Valentin wanted to be one of those people. 243.

Or perhaps it was a case of two keys mutually unlocking each other's soul. 257.

I have often been asked what gave me the courage and the hope to continue the peace negotiations in the face of so much terror and bloodshed. The answer is love. Even in the dephts of the wars, even in the deepest horror, I saw lovers kiss and parents hug their babies, I saw brothers and sisters laugh together and I saw enemy soldiers raise an orphaned child as their own. Love, this maddening, joyous creature of light - it refuses to die. So how could I give up? (From the private diaries of Adrian  Kenner: peace negotiator, Territorial Wars)

Wild Embrace, di Nalini Singh

Wild Embrace (Psy-Changeling #2.5, 5.1, 11.5, 12.1)Wild Embrace by Nalini Singh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Echo of Silence: *****
Dorian: ***
Partners in Persuasion: ****
Flirtation of Fate: **

Allegiance of honor, di Nalini Singh

Allegiance of Honor (Psy-Changeling, #15)Allegiance of Honor by Nalini Singh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Last but not least, è la prima volta che vedo la citazione del modo di dire "passare il Rubicone" in un romanzo inglese ("The majority of those connections were fragile, breakable, or barely budded, but a rare few had passed the Rubicon, would endure").

Night Shift (Kate Daniels, #6.5; SPI Files, # 0.5; Psy-Changeling, #12.5)Night Shift by Nalini Singh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Milla Vane ha scritto The Beast of Blackmoore.

Rock Courtship (Rock Kiss #1.5)Rock Courtship by Nalini Singh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rock Courtship is the second book of the new series by Nalini Singh, Rock Kiss, and it's really good. It's a novella, but very engaging, sweet and sexy. Thea and David are a couple that has all to capture everyone's heart. Their memos, their dialogues, the slow but persistent courting, their way to accept and trust the other, their growing overture to each other are the best traits of an endearing novella. Last but not least, they are Indonesian, specifically Balinese (Thea Arsana) and latin-american (David Rivera), and this is very unusual and appreciated! Make love spread all around the world!

Rock Addiction, di Nalini Singh (Release Blitz)

I'm partecipating in the Release Blitz for Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh!

So honoured!

So incredible opportunity!

Excerpt (from chapter 2):

Patience wasn’t Fox’s strong suit, and he’d almost killed himself with it tonight.
Then he’d just about killed David for getting close to her while he kept his distance. Now, finally, he was alone with Molly and all he wanted to do was mess up her hair, kiss her until her lips were swollen and wet.
Then he wanted to do it again. And again.
Fighting the gut-wrenching need that threatened to turn him inside out, he forced himself to lean back lazily against the elevator wall. “You’re Molly.” It came out a rough purr.
Her eyes widened, fingers curling into her palm. “Yes.”
He wanted those fingers on him – any part of him. “Would you mind giving me a ride?”
A large percentage of the women at the party would’ve taken that as the invitation it was and been all over him in one second flat. Molly, however, took a tiny step back. “Don’t you have a driver?”
Abdomen tight, he continued to keep his tone playful, easy, though he was feeling close to feral. “I gave him the night off.”
“A taxi?”
If she took another step back, Fox wasn’t sure he’d be able to restrain his need to put his hands all  over her sweetly feminine flesh, taste her with his mouth. “I don’t know the address I’m going to.”
The elevator dinged at that moment, and he waited as Molly stepped out into the parking garage before following. The skin at her nape looked like cream; he wanted to lick it up, close his hands over her breasts from behind as he did so, press his rigid cock up against her. Yeah, he wasn’t in a patient mood.
“Oh?” It was a husky question. “If you don’t know the address, how do you plan on getting there?”
Unable to resist any longer, he bent to the soft, subtle, maddening scent of her and whispered, “That’s why I need a ride, Molly,” his lip ring brushing the shell of her ear. “I don’t know where you live.”
She dropped her keys.

My review (also shown in Goodreads and NetGalley):

Rock addiction is the new book by Nalini Singh. It’s the first book in a new series, very different from the others that she is currently writing. It can be defined as New Adult romance, subgenre "famous and troubled boy meets wounded but profound girl“, or, better, the summary can be: "rock star meets normal girl, they have a lot of sex, develop love, surmount obstacles – in the present - and problems – from the past - and live happily”.

Written with Nalini Singh's usual mastery, it’s a contemporary romance about a rock star, Zachary Fox, and a librarian, Molly Webster. The two characters are both young (they are in their twenties), but they have a lot of bad, heavy past experiences that make really difficult for them to love and have faith in another person, save the inner circle of friends. In the story we see these circles: Molly’s best friend and sister, and the guys of Schoolboy Choir, the band. And we have also some glimps about future stories, that obviously will be about these persons.

The setting is from New Zealand to Los Angeles; very interesting the New Zealand part, that is so little present in romances.

The plot is not so new, but it’s used with freshness and ability. There are some beautiful moments: the first dialogue in the elevator, the visit at the zoo, various moments of revelation and getting over the past.

Each character has flaws and problems, but also the strenght to confront them and try to do the best thing.
And each character is well defined and vivid. Fox is really possessive, hard and attractive, but he is not a grown man, he is a young one. His blunt sexual words to Molly are not the words of a lover, but the tentative attemps of a learner. The fear, the blunderings, the bluntness of Molly are not the confidence of a woman, but the searching, by a wounded woman-to-be, of her true self. So, the book is the story of how they can grow and believe in a relationship, making it live, strong and positive.

The sexual interaction is abundant, but it doesn’t overtake the development of the story. Unfortunately, I haven’t, in this respect, found the sparkling and sizzling relationships between the characters that it’s the mark of the author. But these characters are other than Psy/Changelings and Archangels, so we have to appreciate them with an open mind. Maybe my difficulty (the lacking of chemistry, the little gooseflesh) is due to the growing matter, maybe it’s due to my unfathomable points of paragon in sexy rock stars, Bono from U2 and Luciano Ligabue. Yes, it’s understandable that nobody else in reality or fiction can be high on comparison.

So, if you are a lover of New Adult romances, if you can appreciate love stories with a lot of heavy past on the shoulders of the lovers, if you are smoldering for a sexy rock musician, if you are forever fan on Cinderella girls, if you want romances with a lot of sexual interaction, but not too bold or explicit, this is the book that is meant for you.

For me, it was a good read, and a beautiful, compelling love story.

Rock addiction by Nalini Singh: cover revealed!

And...Rock Addiction cover is out!

Summary

A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…

Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.

A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…

Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…

Shield of winter, di Nalini Singh

Shield of Winter (Psy-Changeling, #13)Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Proprio bello.

Heart of Obsidian, di Nalini Singh

Heart of Obsidian (Psy-Changeling, #12)Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eccoti Blaze of memory.

Wild Invitation (Psy-Changeling 0.5, 3.5, 9.5, 10.5)Wild Invitation by Nalini Singh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have re-read with joy Stroke of enticement (I adore Annie and Zach's story) and Beat of temptation (very good). I was so awaiting for Walker (I have loved so much that his love-story with Lara was intertwined with Hawke and Sienna's one) that...I found his story good, but not so amazing. By reverse, I found really interesting Cooper's one! I think that this serie is getting better and better....wonderfully!

"We agree," Sascha said. "I assume you have hard-copy contracts?"
"Of course." He flipped open a binder and slid across copies of the same document they undoubtedly had on their screens.
Sascha picked them up and passed one to her mother. "Electronic would be much more convenient."
He'd heard it a hundred times from a hundred different Psy. Part of the reason changelings hadn't followed the technological wave was sheer stubbornness; the other part was security - his race had been hacking into Psy databases for decades. "I like something I can hold, touch, and smell, something that pleases all my senses." It was an innuendo he had no doubt she understood...(pag. 11)

Slave to sensation – La forza dei sentimenti

Prologo

Psy/Changeling in ungherese

Vonzodas: "Attrazione", per Slave to sensation

Latomas: "Visione", per Visions of heat

Borzongas: "Brivido", per Caressed by ice

Ma magari no!

Segnalo inoltre alcuni brani reperibili in italiano.
I miei giudizi sui singoli libri li trovate come al solito in http://letturedimari.blogspot.com/2011/11/pagelle-su-libri-urban-fantasy.html. Qui dico solo che sono davvero belli.

1. Slave to sensation. (Settembre 2006)

In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of “rehabilitation”— the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was….

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a Changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy co-existence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several Changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion—and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities—or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation…

2. Visions of heat. (Marzo 2007)

Used to cold silence, Faith NightStar is suddenly being tormented by dark visions of blood and murder. A bad sign for anyone, but worse for Faith, an F-Psy with the highly sought after ability to predict the future. Then the visions show her something even more dangerous-aching need...exquisite pleasure. But so powerful is her sight, so fragile the state of her mind, that the very emotions she yearns to embrace could be the end of her.
Changeling Vaughn D'Angelo can take either man or jaguar form, but it is his animal side that is overwhelmingly drawn to Faith. The jaguar's instinct is to claim this woman it finds so utterly fascinating and the man has no argument. But while Vaughn craves sensation and hungers to pleasure Faith in every way, desire is a danger that could snap the last threads of her sanity. And there are Psy who need Faith's sight for their own purposes. They must keep her silenced-and keep her from Vaughn...

8. Bonds of justice. (Luglio 2010)

Max Shannon is a good cop, one of the best in New York Enforcement. Born with a natural shield that protects him against Psy mental invasions, he knows he has little chance of advancement within the Psy-dominated power structure. And the last woman he expects to compel him in the most sensual of ways is a Psy on the verge of a catastrophic mental fracture…
Sophia Russo is a Justice-Psy, cursed with the ability to retrieve memories from men and women so twisted even veteran cops keep their distance. Appointed as Max’s liaison with the Psy, she finds herself fascinated by this human, her frozen heart threatening to thaw with forbidden emotion. But, her mind filled with other people’s nightmares, other people’s evil, she’s standing on the border between sanity and a silken darkness that urges her to take justice into her own hands, to become judge, jury…and executioner…

9. Play of passion. (Novembre 2010)

In his position as tracker for the SnowDancer pack, it’s up to Drew Kincaid to rein in rogue changelings who have lost control of their animal halves—even if it means killing those who have gone too far. But nothing in his life has prepared him for the battle he must now wage to win the heart of a woman who makes his body ignite…and who threatens to enslave his wolf.

Lieutenant Indigo Riviere doesn’t easily allow skin privileges, especially of the sensual kind—and the last person she expects to find herself craving is the most wickedly playful male in the den. Everything she knows tells her to pull back before the flames burn them both to ash…but she hasn’t counted on Drew’s will.

11. Il 29 maggio 2012 uscirà Tangle of need, chissà con quale copertina.

Adria, wolf changeling and resilient soldier, has made a break with the past—one as unpredictable in love as it was in war. Now comes a new territory, and a devastating new complication: Riaz, a SnowDancer lieutenant already sworn to a desperate woman who belongs to another.
For Riaz, the primal attraction he feels for Adria is a staggering betrayal. For Adria, his dangerous lone-wolf appeal is beyond sexual. It consumes her. It terrifies her. It threatens to undermine everything she has built of her new life. But fighting their wild compulsion toward one another proves a losing battle.
Their coming together is an inferno…and a melding of two wounded souls who promise each other no commitment, no ties, no bonds. Only pleasure. Too late, they realize that they have more to lose than they ever imagined. Drawn into a cataclysmic Psy war that may alter the fate of the world itself, they must make a decision that might just break them both.
