I am a little disappointed. I love Laura Kaye, and her books are usually wonderful for me. But this...I have found it boring, and with no compelling characters. Maybe my fault, for having read first of all the third in this serie and not the first, or for expecting too much and always the best. The writing is good as is in all the books of this author, but the story is not for me. Sorry!

Laura Kaye è ormai una sicurezza. Non mi delude mai, perché nei suoi libri ci sono una dolcezza e una sapienza nel tratteggiare i personaggi che non si riesce a non amarli. C'è una sorta di insight che la scrittrice riesce a darti senza essere pedante o ammiccante o furbesca, ed è sempre una esperienza così piacevole.
Qui in particolare ho apprezzato la protagonista femminile, che è praticamente cieca, ma affronta la vita a testa alta, con coraggio e forza d'animo. Il personaggio di Chrys, che pure è ben affascinante, non è stato rifinito come avrebbe potuto (soprattutto riguardo alle vicende del passato che lo hanno reso quel che è). Inoltre, rispetto ai libri precedenti della serie, il livello erotico è più alto, ma senza strafare.
Ho apprezzato molto le apparizioni dei personaggi dei libri precedenti, e la vicenda di Boreas. Quindi, ben fatto Laura Kaye!

Laura Kaye, serie Hearts of the anemoi

Laura Kaye è un'autrice americana che ho scoperto da poco, ma i cui libri sto apprezzando moltissimo. Scrive romance, sia paranormal che contemporaneo, a volte con tinte più forti (sia dal punto di vista sociale che sessuale), altre volte con tonalità davvero dolci e coinvolgenti. Tutti i suoi libri hanno dialoghi vivaci e davvero naturali, momenti di intensa commozione, spunti di profondità insospettata (perché spesso assente da libri di questo genere) e scene di brillante ironia e umorismo.
Una sua serie molto interessante è "Hearts of anemoi", dedicata alle divinità (maggiori o minori) dei venti e a storie d'amore tra persone ferite e segnate dal loro passato, che però riescono nuovamente a donarsi e a aprirsi al futuro e all'amore.
Ecco i primi due volumi di questa serie, che ho letto e che consiglio vivamente.

So sweet! Wonderfully written, beautiful characters, oh-so-tender story, delicious moments. No anger, no opposition, no terrible bad men, no catastrophes. But the snow, the loneliness, the companionship, the teasing, the humor, the caring, the love.
I think that I won't look at a snowman with the same look of the past. Now, I will look with a tender eye.
Thank you Laura Kaye, this is a precious gift.
(And there were snow all around my house during my reading, so it was really perfect!)

Molto dolce! Due personaggi carini, senza tante complicazioni a parte un passato doloroso, e una storia d'amore che si sviluppa serenamente, senza che il cattivo della situazione possa influire più di tanto, o quanto meno a lungo. I riferimenti a marzo, Marte e all'ovest sono tanti e molto simpatici. Davvero piacevole.
